Apparently an adaptation of Milton Glaser’s Baby Fat
Black (in or before 1966), but without lowercase.
Differences most notable in ‘JQ14&’ and the left shadow of
round glyphs. Used already
in 1970. Adopted by Letraset as Fat Shadow. A
c. late 1970s Typeshop catalog shows
a second style, Buxom Full, with solid shade. Shown in
the Phil’s Photo catalog (1980) as Baby Fat Black and
in a VGC catalog (1972) as M-18. Shown in the 5th
revised edition (1976) of Lettera 2 with a Headliners
credit and a “ca. 1970” date.
