Designed by Carl Winkow in 1931 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Gans foundry and to be used in the book El maestro Ibarra. Elzeviriano Ibarra was issued by Gans in 5 styles; redonda (regular), cursiva (italic), negra (bold), estrecha negra (bold condensed), and vaciada (open, see Dalia). [Reichardt, addendum to Gans’ 1922 specimen]
Paulo W’s Gans Ibarra (Intellecta, 2006) is an unsatisfying interpretation of the italic, with Bold, Lined, and Shadow styles.
