Drawn by Maria Ballé and issued by Bauer in 1930 as “a festive decorative complement to Bernhard Schönschrift”. “Not actually cast as foundry type, but rather electrotypes mounted on metal.” [Wikipedia]
VGC revived it for the Photo Typositor. Digitized as Maria-Ballé-Initials (ARTypes, 2007, used for the sample) and, less refined, by David Rakowski as Wein-Initials (Intecsas, 1994), by Paulo W as Bailarina (Intellecta Design, 2007) and by Dick Pape as Pepin Press Caps FA143 (freebie, 2009). Alea (ASType, 2005) is an appealing but loose reinterpretation.
