Originally made in 1972 [N. Macmillan] as phototype for the members of the GST-Kreis. Shown in a 1985 specimen in Buch with Kursiv and Halbfett styles, plus four bolder roman display styles with narrower proportions and swash alternates, named 2.7, 3.0, 3.3, and 3.9, see Basta (Display).
TypeManufactur’s digital version has Leicht, Buch, and Halbfett, each with matching Kursiv styles (and roman small caps for the two lighter weights), plus a Fett. The latter stays closer to the other styles, and is clearly different from the original numbered Bastas.
