AKA Beat★STERN. Designed by Karl-Heinz Domning in 1972 for Berthold. [Berthold Fototypes/Headlines E3, 1982] Apparently inspired by 19th-century wood type such as Hamilton’s Gothic Bold. Main differences: added lowercase, more conventional diagonal letters (incl. symmetrical ‘M’), less squarish counters (‘COU’), beardless ‘G’, top bar on ‘J’, ‘Q’ tail crosses counter.
