AKA Eight Ball. Designer unknown. It may have been designed by Ursula Suess. [Arthur Baker, via Devroye et al.] Released before 1972. [VGC 1972] Several alternates such as swashes and one- and two-story ‘a/g’. Also carried by Lettergraphics (as Eightball) [Lettergraphics 1976] and by Typeshop (as Bertha), with swash alternates. [Typeshop c. 1977] Formatt called it Smile [Formatt 1974] and FotoStar Socker (with an Open style). [Devroye] A related but much cruder design was issued by Alphabet Innovations in 1971, see Eightball (Alphabet Innovations).
Digitized as Egbert (FontBank, 1991) and, with original and new alternates, as Orotund (Canada Type, 2005). Latter is used for the sample.
