Farmer, Little & Co. from 1887. Registered in England by Caslon in
1887 [Gray] and included in their Specimens of Types and
Borders from 1915. Before 1898, Theinhardt (later Berthold)
had a version named Alt-Englisch. [Reichardt]
Day & Collins had it as wood type, see
the cover of their 1910 specimen. Roman Scherer’s
Serie
5377 is another wood type version.
Listed in Phil’s Photo catalog as Laertes. Once
available as dry transfer type from Letraset, who credited the
design to Stephenson Blake (successor to Caslon). Digitizations
include the freebies Primitive by Rick More…
