Designed in 1972, according to Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, Reichardt, Naylor. Based on an unused logo designed in 1971 for a German swimwear manufacturer. The completed alphabet was named Sinaloa and offered to Letraset. [Swiss Type Design. Note that this source has the same info for Sonora.] Released as a Letraset exclusive in 1974. [Daines]
A second variation with finer vertical stripes was not released by Letraset, but is shown in Stulle’s 1985 phototype catalog as Sonora (not to be confused with Sonora)
