Designed in 1930–33 by Morris F. Benton for ATF, in 3 weights, each in 2 widths. Poster Gothic is the same design as Bank Gothic Condensed Medium, adjusted for larger sizes. The regular weights of Bank Gothic were adopted by Linotype, who named the condensed cuts Card Gothic (1936). Ludlow’s copy is Commerce Gothic and Intertype’s DeLuxe Gothic. [McGrew 1993] See also Monotype’s Stationers Gothic.
