Designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1932. No lowercase. Alternates for ‘A’ and ‘M’. Working titles were Tempo and later Utility Gothic. Agency Gothic Open followed in 1934 [McGrew 1993].
Digital interpretations include FB Agency (Font Bureau, 1990); with added lowercase and a bold, later expanded into a series of five weights in five widths) and Agency Gothic CT (CastleType, 1990–; three weights plus Condensed, Inline, and Open styles).
