Designed by Marty Goldstein together with C.B. Smith and published by VGC in 1966. Harry is named for Goldstein’s father [Red Rooster]. Three styles (Thin, Heavy, Fat) are shown in a 1969 catalog as “recent additions” [VGC 1969], suggesting a release date in 1969. Three more styles (Plain, Obese Squeezed, Obese) were added by 1972 [VGC 1972]. Letraset’s Horatio (1971) is a close follower.
Revived by Steve Jackaman and Ashley Muir as Harry Pro (ITF/Red Rooster, 2010), adding four new styles to the original six [MyFonts], resulting in ten weights each in regular and condensed (“Squeezed”) widths.
