Four basic styles, designed by Matthew Carter and hinted by Tom Rickner in 1993, were released by Microsoft in 1996 as part of the Core Fonts for the Web collection.
Georgia (and its companion Verdana) was expanded by Font Bureau, Carter & Cone, and Monotype to 20 styles each and released as Georgia Pro (and Verdana Pro) in 2013.
