A very wide, mostly monolinear slab that was very common in the mid 20th century after releases by ATF and Bauer. MacGrew mentions the US version was imported from Bauer. Metal and wood precursors can be found back to the 1800s, including ATF’s Antique Extended.
A film version is shown in Berthold’s E3 as Egyptienne Mediumn Extended, with Amsterdam credits.
There are a few digital revivals, including Jason Walcott’s Hellenic Wide (Jukebox Type, 2007; incl. Inline), Michael Hagemann’s Lonestar (FontMesa, 2007), Noah Rothschild’s MCM Hellenic Wide (Victory Type, 2010), and Nick Curtis’ Old MacDonald NF Wide (Nick’s Fonts, 2011).
