Established in 1882, Shooting Times has a huge history and needed a redesign to reflect it’s heritage while displaying its more contemporary editorial approach.
Using Publico as the main serif font retained an authoratative voice while giving it a modern look and feel. Publico was supported by Benton Sans Condensed as a box out and sub head option, while also being available as a back up headline for more technical features.
The new Vintage Times section used an old woodcut from a 50 year old copy of the title and adapted the wording accordingly. The same approach was used to create a ‘brand’ for the Gundog pages giving the sections a sense of the magazines heritage.
