Today there is only one building on Kant Island in Kaliningrad: the cathedral. It defines the architectural and historical feel of the island. For many of us, it is difficult to imagine that this was not always the case — in the past, Kneiphof had once been a town in itself, and later became a densely populated quarter of Königsberg with over twenty streets, five bridges and a range of buildings from different time periods. We believe this history should not be forgotten, and so we have installed seventeen information stands with historical photos. The idea is to display these views precisely where the photos were taken; on the site of Kneiphof’s former crossroads, where the stands are now located.
