In 2015 Panuku Development Auckland engaged Brogen Averill to work alongside Auckland Transport to treat two bus stops in Daldy Street, a recently opened street in the Wynyard Quarter. The brief was to bring creativity to the streets using Auckland bus stops as a backdrop for expression. The project aimed to combine creativity and technical resolution and innovation. This was achieved through celebrating Auckland writers and their creative works. Technical specifications of the brief fuelled the inspiration to take these bus stops as a physical place of convenience and everyday behaviour, and design them to act as places of thought provocation and delight. To achieve this integration in Auckland’s built environment we worked with the NZ Writers Institute to recognise and celebrate some of our most prominent writers.
