“Time Fades Away” is taken from the album “Time Fades Away”. “Last Trip To Tulsa” is a live electric version of the track on the debut lp and is exclusive to this release.
The cover of the German single release distributed by WEA combines the lowercase-only Gayot Ombre with the caps-only Marvin. Both faces were carried by Mecanorma, the French manufacturer of dry-transfer sheets. While the former was issued shortly before as a Mecanorma original, the latter originated at the London-based phototypesetting company Face, and was also available from Mecanorma’s competitor Letraset. Gayot’s shadow nicely echoes the strong contrast in the photography, albeit with a reversed angle. The spacing goes beyond the typical tight-not-touching: The ‘g’ that hovers above its neighbor further increases the three-dimensional effect in Gayot, and Marvin ends up with some automatic ligatures (ES, LA, LS).
