The “Gates of the Arctic National Park” poster was designed by Pouya Ahmadi for an exhibition titled Type Hike to celebrate the centennial of America’s National Parks. While the large words are in a custom typeface, Ahmadi used Suisse Int’l for all smaller type.
The exhibition was curated by Type Hike team and National Park Service. Gates of the Arctic National Park is one of the best places to observe the Northern Lights (Aurora), which became the main concept for this poster. The curtain-like super-form in the poster is a visual translation of the Northern Lights. The custom typeface used for this poster was an interpretation of same forms in a typographic manner.
