In 2017 a platform for design and journalism was initiated under the title ‘The Common Affairs’. As of 2018, the platform is re-launched as ACED – Platform for Design and Journalism.

ACED is an international interdisciplinary platform for design and journalism. The main goal of the ACED website seems to be to draw attention to its activities, urging visitors to watch a short video, to share it and, to visit ACED’s events.

All text, from headlines and navigation to articles is set in condensed weights of David Berlow’s Vonness. Headlines are set in large, compact, black and white blocks, evoking a 20th-century-newspaper-feel. After clicking a link, the content is very different from what one might expect from a journalist platform: no backgrounds, footnotes, longreads and investigations, but only short texts about an event where more information will be presented and shared; a date; a share box. Maybe a condensed weight was chosen for texts, to convey a sense of urge: Quickly read this and come! or share! We can’t tell you more now, we have too much to do!
