Du couvent au bordel, mots du joli monde (“From the convent to the brothel, words from the pretty world”) by Claudine Brécourt-Villars is a women’s dictionary, designed by Parisian studio Cheeri and published by La Table Ronde.
PS Fournier was chosen for its elegancy and delicacy. We aimed to use the font with all its characteristics and even used the included ornaments and border elements to compose capitals for the chapter openings.
Very clever layout. I love the way in which “cou” is separated from “vent” and “bor” from “del.” The serifs create a sort of invisible grid, a sense of visual rhythm that is only broken by the vertical “ la table ronde” – almost crucifix-like. Thank you for sharing. Merci infiniment.
