Sportspanda from Melbourne, Australia offers “spasmodic live broadcasts” and archives them at mixcloud.com. The graphics and social media cards used to identify and advertise the shows exclusively use the Vroum typeface, “a condensed stencil typeface, directly inspired by American muscle cars and other monsters trucks”, often further distorted with heavy visual effects. Vroum was made by French designer Nicolas Aubert together with Romain Oudin and released by Lift Type in 2015.

  1. The updated version of Vroum is Vroum GTI (released Nov. 2020) in 8 weights.

  2. Thanks for the heads-up, Jay! I’ve updated our entry.

That extension will make Vroum a lot more usable. With its extreme proportions, the original style was a bit limited. I also dig the “decalic” styles, with the three segments shifted horizontally to emulate an italic effect. Very appropriate for this style.
