The Scholar Adventurer: A Tribute to John D. Gordon (1907–1968) on the Eightieth Anniversary of His Birth with Six of his Essays contains “urbane essays on English and American literature by the first curator of the Library’s Berg Collection” (NYPL.org)
The collection was published by the New York Public Library in an edition of 1000. The entire book is set in Bembo (letterpress). The format is a golden rectangle. The grid follows the golden section. The typesetter set all italics one point larger than the body copy to be optically similar. The image is printed with the gravure method as there is no offset printing used for the book.
