The National Basketball Association (NBA) introduced a refreshed mark by The Original Champions of Design and steadily started integrating it in 2017. The overall identity will be officially put into place across all properties for the 2018–19 regular season beginning October 16, 2018. [NBA]

This is a very slight update of an original 1969 logo by Siegel+Gale. The player shown in silhouette is still that of Los Angeles Laker Jerry West. The typeface used on the updated identity is Commercial Type’s Action Condensed designed by LettError, replacing a previous variety of sans serifs.
