Mass market paperback published by Ace Books (#27425) in 1968, following the Farrar Straus Giroux hardcover edition from the same year. Translated from the Spanish by Hardie St. Martin.

The typeface used for the title and the author’s name is a phototype version of Frankonia, originally issued by the Flinsch foundry in 1902.

It was first digitized in 1993 as Ariosto by David Nalle, a political writer, game author and font designer who was active in the early history of the development of the internet. Released by Scriptorium fonts (now known as fontcraft), a lesser known type foundry specializing in adaptations of antique fonts and fonts based on artistic hand lettering drawn from the work of famous artists and calligraphers.
