Sacha Guitry (1885–1957) was a French actor, director, playwright, screenwriter. This paperback bundles the texts of two of his plays: Nono (1905) and his theatre play/movie Toâ (Les baladins) from 1949.

Lettres Ombrées Ornées is used for the author’s names. The short titles of the two plays are set in boxes with mixed case Cooper Black used for Toâ, and Volta Black with rotated o’s for Nono. The back cover shows more titles, set with Normande.

Stylistically, this looks a lot like the work Atelier Pierre Faucheux did for the Livre de Poche from 1964 until the mid-1980s.

  2. Merci, Stéphane! Richard Hollis portrayed Faucheux in Eye no. 19 vol. 5, 1995. There are two book covers credited to him on Fonts In Use. I’ll look more into his body of work.
