A bichromatic use of Hermann Zapf’s Saphir, for Fair-Nick Stars, a beguine/calypso album recorded by musicians from Martinique, Guadeloupe, and French Guyana. First cast by Stempel in 1953, the ornamented caps were available for dry-transfer lettering from both Letraset and Mecanorma. The double hyphen is probably a custom creation, made from parts of other glyphs. British Inserat (or Compacta?) is used for the titles. Cover by Gilles Sala, with photography by Jean Civilisé. [Discogs]

With “Arrêté mal palé”, compiled on Sofrito sampler.
Rare 1970s French pressing on Capriccio label.
