Durch die Wüste des Realen
Durch die Wüste des Realen (“Through the Desert of the Real”) was made as thesis project at TH Nuremberg Design Faculty in 2019. It’s a visual dialogue with algorithms, using artificial intelligence and machine learning as a source of inspiration and an attempt to use it as a collaborative tool in the creative process. 196 pages of graphic experiments.
The Tiny typeface by the Velvetyne Type Foundry is used for the book cover which is completely covered in code. Inside the book itself, two page formats are used: A bigger one for all the graphic experiments, and a smaller one for further content around topics like artificial intelligence, transhumanism, or sources of inspiration. For all texts, the Fakt Pro font family (Type By) is used. Apoc Sans (Blaze Type) is used to highlight important terms in those texts and refer to further information on these topics in other parts of the book.
