Red Dead Redemption is a Western action-adventure game developed by Rockstar San Diego and published by Rockstar Games in 2010.
The original logo is based on Chinese Rocks Bold, with some minor changes and added dirt. The typeface was designed in 1999 by Ray Larabie, who used to work for Rockstar Canada at the time. In 2002, Larabie quit the company to focus full-time on type design. “Rockstar Games presents” seems to be set in a squooshed Toronto Gothic.
Red Dead RedemptionII came out in October 2018 (PlayStation 4, Xbox One). Versions for Microsoft Windows and Stadia followed in November 2019. According to Wikipedia,
[t]he game was also widely acclaimed and a commercial success, generating $725 million in revenue in three days and selling 17 million copies in two weeks.
For this prequel, Rockstar North created (or commissioned) a custom version of Chinese Rocks named Redemption. It’s distinguished by several redesigned glyphs and a larger character set including Cyrillics. One of the introduced modifications is the I with bars which can been seen in the logo. The custom font also comprises catchwords (logotype glyphs) for setting the words “Red Dead Redemption II”, with different forms for the repeating letters like E or D. It’s used on the official website. Redemption is complemented by Kirsty, another design by Larabie.
