Friederike von Hellermann is a book artist who works from Halle (Saale), Germany. On 3 February 2020 she gave a lecture about book art and the haptic experience in times of e-books at Basics 19/20 (UdK Berlin).

The posters were letterpress-printed using Prestige and a selection of more familiar typefaces from the twentieth century: Akzidenz-Grotesk, Helvetica, Amsterdamer Garamont and geometric shapes taken from the well-known Futura Schmuck.

  1. Very nice to have a documented use for Prestige, one of the lesser known typeface designs by Helmut Matheis! Thank you for that.

Was this printed at UdK’s print shop, or maybe at p98a? I saw that they have Futura Schmuck in their drawers.

  2. This one was printed at UdK’s Medienhaus print shop. Thank you for sharing these interesting articles. I will read through!

  3. I see, thanks! Say servus to Thomas.

  4. Prestige has never been digitized?

  5. No, it hasn’t. Helmut Matheis died last year, on March 1, 2021, at the age of 103. Let me know if you have plans to do a digitization. I’m in contact with the family, and could also provide scans of specimens.
