The Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival is one of the global references within the genre thanks to its fusion of styles, upcoming talent and recognized artists.

For its 51st edition, the festival proposed a total change of image that linked the spirit of the festival with the strength and rhythm of the music. Druk was the perfect choice to reflect the unpredictable and lively nature of jazz thanks to its expressiveness and multiple formats. The use of black and white and the strong prominence of typography form the anchor of the new visual system that will define this and the following editions.

Swiss 721 works as a support font for longer texts and additional information.

  1. I take it that the blackletter for “Voll-Damm” is custom lettering, yes? Who drew it?

Can somebody tell me what fonts are used?

  3. The fonts in use are Druk Wide, Druk Condensed, and Swiss 721, which have been mixed in words. I assume that the blackletter for “Voll-Damm” is custom lettering, but this hasn’t been confirmed by the designer.

  4. Hi Florian and Ajax! Too late for answer, but better late than never. I was investigating about Voll-Damm logo to known its origin but I couldn’t find any information about it.

I assume too that is custom lettering. The Damm corporative brand and the old Estrella Damm (another Damm product) have the same lettering.

Sorry for cannot resolve your doubts.

  5. Hi Sebastián, thanks for chiming in! Never too late. ;)

Ah, Estrella! That’s why that a looked familiar. I didn’t make the connection before. Yes, that logo very likely started as lettering. Maybe it was made into a custom font at some point, or maybe not. Their current – different – brand typeface was designed by Extratype.
