I found this book on the street a few years ago. It is a German paperback edition of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. Published by the Deutscher Taschenbuch Verlag in November 1974. This is dtv’s 3rd edition, published in May 1976. When they printed the edition 27,000 copies had already been sold. This edition was printed in 11,000 copies.
The cover was designed by Celestino Piatti featuring an illustration by Klaus Ensikat. The type is Berthold’s Akzidenz-Grotesk. The text inside the book [not pictured] is composed in either Aldus or Palatino, from Hermann Zapf.
