Oldschool Grotesk is used for Serial Cut’s Purely Iconic, a showcase of the studio’s work over two decades. The self-titled “Image Makers” are rarely associated with subtlety and restraint, but with an opulent, often exuberant visual language. In celebration of their 20th anniversary, they produced a book and a 15-minute film that is screening at design festivals across the globe.

The 544-page tome presents a selection of the most iconic projects, a feast of surrealism, pop culture, CGI, photography, and various other media. To achieve a level of precision that does justice to the rich imagery, the book was printed using stochastic screening. The black foil-blocked title on the cloth hardback cover elegantly contrasts with the content inside.

The film is available through the website, which gives an overview of the project and provides more insights into the production process.
