From oopswhoops:

Excellent session for the MPS label from the man who played the electric violin solo on Gainsbourg Melody Nelson. Recorded in Germany in 1971 not long before he played with Zappa and then drowned himself in Jazz Fusion. Original French pressing.

Cover design by Bernhard Wetz, with photography by Anno Wilms and a phototype version of Advertising Gothic, a descenderless face designed by Robert Wiebking for the Western Type Foundry in 1917. See it in full glory in a c.1923 specimen by Barnhart Brothers & Spindler at the Letterform Archive.

  1. Bernhard Wetz was fond of Advertisers Gothic. He also used it for other covers, incl. Stéphane Grappelli’s Afternoon In Paris (1971) and John Jones’s Collage.
