In my post about the Testimonio movie poster, I touched upon the fact that Permanent Headline came in solid and open styles that were advertised and used together. This cover design by Loring Eutemey takes it one step further and combines Headline and Headline licht in layers for bichromatic effect.

King Size Soul is an album by saxophonist King Curtis (1934–1971), released on ATCO (a sublabel of Atlantic Records) in 1967. The opening track is a jazz version of Bobbie Gentry’s “Ode to Billie Joe”. Photography by Stephen Paley.

  1. The title for Samuel R. Delany’s Babel-17 (Ace Books, 1966, illustration by Jerome Podwil) is another example for both styles of Permanent Headline used as bichromatic pair.
