A collection of thirteen short stories written by Bernard Malamud from 1958. Most stories deal with Jewish characters and are centered around living in poverty. This book jacket is from the earlier part of Milton Glaser’s career. Super colorful and papercut illustrations. Caslon 540 is featured in roman and italic, with alternating glyph colors for the author’s name. A neat touch to this is Glaser’s signature in the lower right-hand side.
