Stop in use for the cover of Fritz Billeter’s monograph about Swiss artist Silvio Mattioli (1929–2011) and his iron sculptures, published in 1975 by ABC Verlag, Zurich.
The Custom Stop group on Flickr was started by Antonio Cavedoni to collaboratively collect examples for how Aldo Novarese’s striking letterforms have been customized. Antonio points out that Stop was modified in this case, too: Not only does the double T share a roof, the bar also protrudes to the left, minimizing the gap between A and T. The letter I lost its dot for a more dignified look (such a glyph was available as an alternate in Letraset’s version, but not in Nebiolo’s metal original), and L was made round, apparently to echo the curve in T.
