The motivation and objective of Jeongchefonts is to develop a ‘Batangche’ font (body text style in Korean typefaces), by proposing a typesetting method. Considering that it is difficult to express various styles according to different forms of writing (e.g. quotation, explanation) with a single font, Sandoll attempted to expand expressiveness of font by giving variations to textures for same-weighted characters, in addition to differentiating weights.
Jeongche 530 and 630 are for literature, and their skeletons were made based on Hangul Gungseoche and Chinese Haeseoche. Elements of pen writing were added to 530 and those of brush writing to 630, to give subtle aesthetics suitable for literature that needs to be neither too strict nor too disordered.
