The pentagram of foliage is an homage to both Black Mass Lucifer (1971) and Garson’s most famous album, Plantasia (1976).

Cover art by Robert Beatty for Music From Patch Cord Productions, an upcoming compilation of unreleased tracks by the late synthesizer pioneer and composer Mort Garson. The album is set to be released by Sacred Bones Records later this year.

A cozy sandwich of all-caps type puts Garson’s name up top in Eckmann-Schrift, balanced on some of the smallest ITC Busorama I’ve ever seen on a foundation of Gemini Computer, one of the earliest “cyber” typefaces. This wild combination gives the fairly-small text block the intrigue and contrast it needs to balance out the elaborate, psychedelic illustration, which combines motifs from some of Garson’s better-known records.

The label on the record itself reuses Eckmann & Gemini, along with some much smaller text I can’t identify from this image. I may come back and update this post to include it when my copy arrives.
