In Vegan JapanEasy, Tim Anderson taps into Japan’s rich culture of cookery that’s already vegan or very nearly vegan, so there are no sad substitutes and zero shortcomings on taste.
Alias Harbour is used for headline text. See also Alias Harbour used for Tim Anderson’s earlier JapanEasy (2017). The wide capitals are from Monument Extended (Pangram Pangram). Japanese texts are set in Hiragino Maru Gothic (from Jiyu-kobo and Screen Graphic Solutions Co.); The sans serifs used for smaller point sizes in the book interior are ABC Monument Grotesk and ABC Monument Grotesk Mono (Dinamo) as well as Knockout (not pictured).

The sans typeface is Phonk Regular. It’s an exact match for the headings inside the book.
As for the title ‘Vegan’, I don’t know if an alt G was used or the spur was added manually. Either way, if you compress Phonk Regular a bit, you will find it’s a match for that as well.
Phonk (2021) is definitely similar, and so is the earlier Libé Sans (2015) a.k.a. Media Sans Extended Black. I don’t think that Phonk is a match, though. Apart from the fact that it was released after this book was designed, there are several differences. In addition to the G, see also &, the link in K, and the vertex of M.
You must be right. Quite remarkable. Below is the book type at the top, and Phonk Regular at the bottom with a tracking of 25 and a width of 98%.
Designer Evi O kindly provided the names of the fonts she used. Matthijs has added them to the description. The bold wide sans is Monument Extended. I had even looked at Monument Extended briefly, but dismissed it, based on the missing beard in G and the too large apertures. What I overlooked is the fact that this typeface was greatly revised between its original release (2018) and the current version (v2, 2020). Shown below are some of the differences between the old Ultrabold (top) and the new Heavy (bottom). It really became a new typeface design. The former is used in the book design.

The two names of Monument are the same but different, for example, Extended and Grotesk.
Right, Monument Extended by Pangram Pangram and Monument Grotesk by Dinamo are unrelated beyond the name. They were both released in summer 2018. There are quite a few typefaces with Monument in the name.
