Czechoslovak poster for Les grands sentiments font les bons gueuletons (English: Big Sentiments Make for Good Sports), “a crazy comedy about wedding guests and survivors”, directed by Michel Berny and starring Michel Bouquet, Jean Carmet, and Michael Lonsdale.

Designer Olga Čivrná used an all-caps italic face with shade and horizontal hatching. Interline originated at MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan and was patented in 1876. While the patent mentions Richard Smith (1821–1894), type historian Hans Reichardt argues he’s very likely not the designer, but rather acted in his role as foundry owner.

Interline was revived for phototype under the name Cheque – apparently a mix-up with the similar Cheque (Boston, 1882). It’s reproduced in Lettera 2 (5th edition, 1976) with Headliners credits, and also in Dan X. Solo’s Victorian Display Alphabets (Dover, 1976).
