Ellermann is a hardware store in Reinbek, Germany, founded in 1872 by one Hermann Ellermann from Stargard. It’s still run by a family member today. The blue neon sign above the door probably dates from around the 1960s, with letterforms patterned after Slogan. The brush script was designed by Helmut Matheis in 1958 and is also used for the wordmarks that are repeated across the shop windows.

Documented by Monsieur Adrien in August 2021.

Detail. The neon tube adds an inline – or heartline – to the bold brush script. It closely follows all details of the design, including Slogan’s peculiar letter a which uses the Kurrent construction. The terminal swash falls under artistic license.
