Onyx, a condensed Didone, was designed by Gerry Powell and released by ATF in 1937. On the cover of Twistin’ In High Society by Lester Lanin and His Orchestra from 1961, it’s used in three colors. “TwiSTin’” is set in red letters in mixed case, with the i dots and the apostrophe colored in orange. The track names are presented in alternating line colors.

The black-and-white photograph is by Henry Parker. Working at the Columbia Records Photo Studio in the 1960s, he contributed to over 300 record covers. The typography is uncredited.
