Phil Martin’s Stark (Alphabet Innovations) in use for a jacket design by A. Marshall Licht. While Stark was available in a ready-made shaded style named Stark Raving, the designer preferred to add a custom long shade. In the process, some of the rounded corners of the letterforms were cut, see especially O, C, A in the second line. Stark is a boxy sans in the tradition of gaspipe lettering. In its uppercase seen here with the minuscule construction for M and N, it resembles Futura Display. URW offers a digital version of Stark, covering its two solid styles.

Managing Political Risk Assessment: Strategic Responses to Environmental Change is a book by Stephen J. Kobrin, then Associate Professor of Management and International Business at New York University. It was published by the University of California Press in 1982, as volume 8 in the Studies in International Political Economy series, edited by Stephen Krasner.
