Halyard is the typeface family chosen for People Process Place: History of a Company.

David Leon is an interior architect from London. For more than forty years, he directed a consultancy specializing in workplace design and related architecture. In People Process Place, Leon recounts the history of his company and looks back at the successes and failures. The book is arranged chronologically, with each chapter capturing a different practice location and the subsequent work produced there.

JMG Studio provided the book design, and worked with Darden Studio’s grotesque superfamily throughout – from the big caps from Halyard Display on the typographic cover and the yellow chapter openings, down to the image captions set in the more open Halyard Text. Jon Kielty comments on the typeface choice:

Halyard was perfect for the book. It has enough character to give it a distinctive feel, but retains a timeless classic grotesque quality. The text version is very readable with a lot of contrast, giving it a lively edge.

The book was edited by Tom Neville at Categorical Books with a foreword by Peter Murray. Retouching by Cliff Yard; print and binding by Blissets.
