From November 1936 until the end of the Spanish Civil War in 1939, Madrid was systematically bombed by the Condor Legion of Nazi Germany and by the Aviazione Legionaria of Fascist Italy, as well as by the artillery stationed in its surroundings.

Madrid Bombardeado, Cartografía de la destrucción 1936–1939 (“Madrid bombed, cartography of destruction 1936–1939”) is a book/map, written and designed by two architects, professors at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. It shows the traces of those bombings in the city today.

Schotis Text is the only typeface used in the book. It was written by Luis de Sobrón together with Enrique Bordes, who also provided the design.
