Nu Icons is a Swiss magazine “celebrating fashion and beauty” redesigned in 2021. “New Era” (Issue 23) reveals its the new graphic ambiance, designed by Lisa Rebeca and Clio Hadjigeorgiou (Lausanne, Switzerland).

Each issue is set with a different display typeface. For the first brand new issue, the two graphic designers chose Atlantique Bermuda, an experimental typeface whose main concept is to bring together a monospaced system with a script based design. Constructed elements are merged together with calligraphy-inspired shapes and the combination of both styles creates an unexpected and original language that fits the theme of the publication.

The font sizes are varied and the designers explore the multi-faceted nature of the typeface: all-capital headlines, emphatic quotations set in lively lowecase text pattern. On some pages, single letters of monumental size facing portraits and jewels take the form of fashion items.

Atlantique Bermuda is paired with Neue Haas Grotesk for text and Basel Typewriter for captions.
