Picaflor is a typeface specially created by Ariel Martin Pérez for Cercle magazine nº9 about flowers, the main topic of the annual magazine in 2021. Picaflor is used for cover, openers, titles of the interviews and quotes. A spread at the end of the magazine is dedicated to the font creation and how the designer has been inspired by the rigorous skeleton of French didones and the multitude of forms from Spanish vernacular heritage. Picaflor means hummingbird in some Latin American countries. The standard typefaces used for the magazine are Wigrum and ITC Esprit.

  1. A wonderful magazine. Because you can’t buy all fonts, I use ITC Veljovic and Veljovic Script, both of which are underused.
