Half sheet poster (22″×28″)

I’ve been informed that today is the last day I can post this.

It’s the year 2022…
People are still the same.
They’ll do anything to get what they need.
And they need SOYLENT GREEN.

ITC Avant Garde Gothic (1970) in use on the posters for Soylent Green, an ecological dystopian thriller from 1973, loosely based on the 1966 science fiction novel Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison. Directed by Richard Fleischer, the film stars Charlton Heston, Leigh Taylor-Young, and Edward G. Robinson. Avant Garde Gothic is used in three of its weights, featuring the alternate e with angled bar. The art is by John Solie (b. 1937). I don’t know if he had a hand in the typography, too. The “Riot Control” lettering on the clearance vehicles does come close to Avant Garde Gothic.
