The Wonderful World of Seals and Whales was published by the National Geographic Society in 1984 in their “Books for Young Explorers” series.

It was this book that kickstarted Kyle Benson’s revival of Henrietta: Matt Yow posted an image of it, asking for a font ID. Joshua Blankenship came to the rescue, and Benson immediately recognized the potential for a digital interpretation of this obscure 1970s face of unclear origin. A few months later, he made a first version of his VC Henrietta available from Future Fonts.

One year after the release of v0.1 in March 2022, there were four documented in-use examples of the revival on Fonts In Use, but none for the original. Matthew Smith just posted the first one, spotted on a bottle of HP Fruity Sauce. Now here’s a second one. The book uses two styles of Henrietta on the cover, the Medium and the Bold Rimmed. The latter also appears for the initials in the interior, where it’s paired with text in ITC Avant Garde Gothic. You can flip through the whole book at the Internet Archive.
