In its original incarnation as foundry type, Brush Script offered a few extras: ligatures for th tt Th and terminal swash forms for e s and t, which helped to better mimick the look of handwritten words. Some of these are shown in a specimen from 1942.
Mecanorma’s adaptation for dry transfer lettering from c. 1980 incorporated the alternate glyphs for s and t. The rub-down sheets didn’t include any instructions for their use, though. As the name implies, terminal forms are intended to be used exclusively at the end of words. The designers at Grafiche Dotti apparently liked the fat outstroke on the baseline, and used this glyph for all three instances of the letter s, also for the double occurence in the middle of the band name. Furthermore, they added custom extensions to the caps from Futura Extra Bold Condensed which are used for the song title.
Among digital fonts, ATF Brush by the American Type Founders Collection probably is the only version to include the terminal swash forms.
Passengers was an italo disco band probably best known for their 1980 hit single “He’s Speedy Like Gonzales”.
